Re: Response to Kyoto Prefecture’s Lifting of the State of Emergency Measures

 As of September 30, the state of emergency declared in Kyoto Prefecture with regard to COVID-19 has been lifted. Nevertheless, due to highly infectious COVID-19 variants, the situation is not yet under control nationwide, and even in Kyoto Prefecture, the percentage of infected young people in their teens to 30s is particularly high. Kyoto Prefecture has established “Upcoming measures to curb a resurgence of COVID-19” and has requested universities and other institutions to thoroughly implement infection prevention measures.
 In light of the above, Kyoto Institute of Technology will be taking the following measures. Your understanding and cooperation for their thorough implementation is greatly appreciated.
A summary of KIT’s current measures can be found on the university’s website:
 /covid-19_summary/

 ?When traveling between prefectures, take basic infection prevention measures, such as wearing a mask correctly, washing hands frequently, making use of hand disinfectants installed outside and keeping a safe distance from others;
 ?Refrain from traveling to and from areas where infection is spreading;
 ?Refrain from drinking alcohol on the street, in parks or at home parties;
 ?Refrain from visiting restaurants after the end of the requested shortened business hours;
 ?To the extent that it does not interfere with the performance of your duties, actively promote teleworking or video conferences to reduce contact with others.

 In addition to the above measures, please continue to follow the “Kyoto Institute of Technology Manual on Limiting Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Transmission”.

 Please keep in mind that the risk of infection is particularly high during eating and drinking occasions. Be sure to observe the “Kyoto Manners” when eating and drinking.
 “Kyoto Manners”
 ?Dine at places with appropriate partitions and ventilation;
 ?Wear a mask when talking;
 ?Disinfect your hands before eating and when leaving a restaurant;
 ?Do not talk loudly at a restaurant;
 ?Limit the time to 2 hours and the number of people to 4 or less per table.

 We ask for your continued cooperation in following the “Kyoto Institute of Technology Manual on Limiting Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Transmission” and consistently implementing basic infection control measures. Avoid the “3Cs” (crowded places, close contact settings and closed spaces), maintain social distancing from others, wear a mask and wash and disinfect your hands. Also, actively practice the “new lifestyle” (limiting unnecessary contact with people, etc.) in order to protect your health and prevent others from becoming infected.
