Re: Response to Kyoto Prefecture’s Request for Priority Prevention Measures

 Following the shift to “Priority COVID-19 Measures” on August 2, 2021, the Kyoto Prefectural Government has requested universities to implement thorough infection prevention measures in order to control the spread of COVID-19.
 In addition to the current measures being taken to prevent the spread of the infection, Kyoto Institute of Technology will be taking the following measures. Your understanding and cooperation for their thorough implementation is greatly appreciated.
 A summary of KIT’s current measures can be found on the university’s website:

 Please note that regular examinations and the Open Campus will be held as scheduled, with thorough infection prevention measures in place.

 ?Refrain from unnecessary traveling outside of Kyoto Prefecture;
 ?When using public transportation, refrain from talking whilst inside the vehicle (new);
 ?Do not undertake any actions that come with a high risk of infection, such as drinking alcohol in groups on the street or in parks (new);
 ?Actively promote teleworking or staggered working hours, to the extent that it does not interfere with the performance of your duties.
 ?Refrain from eating and drinking with others before and after classes and extracurricular activities (new);
 ?Strongly refrain from visiting restaurants after the end of the requested shortened business hours (new);
 ?Do not hold gatherings (drinking parties) for clubs, circles etc. (new);
 ?Do not act in large groups and do not drink and stay at friends’ lodgings (new);
 ?Refrain from talking with your mask off, including during meals (new);
 ?Regarding extracurricular activities, take thorough measures to prevent infection and avoid activities with a particularly high risk of infection;
 ?University gates will be open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm on weekdays and will remain closed at all other times.

 In addition to the above measures, please continue to follow the “Kyoto Institute of Technology Manual on Limiting Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Transmission”.

 We ask for your continued cooperation in following the “Kyoto Institute of Technology Manual on Limiting Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Transmission” and consistently implementing basic infection control measures. Avoid the “3Cs” (crowded places, close contact settings and closed spaces), maintain social distancing from others, wear a mask and wash and disinfect your hands. Also, actively practice the “new lifestyle” (limiting unnecessary contact with people, etc.) in order to protect your health and prevent others from becoming infected.
