Re: Response to Kyoto Prefecture’s Request for Priority Prevention Measures

 As of January 27, 2022, Kyoto Prefectural Government will be implementing “Priority Prevention Measures” against the highly infectious “Omicron” variant and universities have been requested to take thorough infection prevention measures in order to control the spread of COVID-19.
 In addition to the current measures being taken to prevent the spread of the infection, Kyoto Institute of Technology will be taking the following measures. Your understanding and cooperation for their thorough implementation is greatly appreciated.
 A summary of KIT’s current measures can be found on the university’s website:

 Please note that regular examinations will be held as scheduled, with thorough infection prevention measures in place.

  • Refrain from non-essential and non-urgent traveling to and from other prefectures (commuting to work or to school is excluded);
  • Refrain from going out or traveling to crowded places or places with a high risk of infection;
  • Actively promote teleworking or staggered working hours, to the extent that it does not interfere with the performance of your duties;
  • Avoid using restaurants etc. that do not have thorough infection control measures in place;
  • When eating or drinking, observe the “Kyoto Manners” and limit the number of people at the same table to no more than four and the time to 2 hours;
  • Strongly refrain from visiting restaurants after the end of the requested shortened business hours;
  • Refrain from eating and drinking with others before and after classes and extracurricular activities;
  • Do not hold gatherings (drinking parties) for clubs, circles etc.;
  • Do not act in large groups and do not drink and stay at friends’ lodgings;
  • Refrain from talking with your mask off, including during meals;
  • Regarding extracurricular activities, take thorough measures to prevent infection and avoid activities with a particularly high risk of infection.

 In addition to the above measures, please continue to follow the “Kyoto Institute of Technology Manual on Limiting Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Transmission”.

 We ask for your continued cooperation in following the “Kyoto Institute of Technology Manual on Limiting Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Transmission” and consistently implementing basic infection control measures. Avoid the “3Cs” (crowded places, close contact settings and closed spaces), maintain social distancing from others, wear a mask and wash and disinfect your hands. Also, actively practice the “new lifestyle” (limiting unnecessary contact with people, etc.) in order to protect your health and prevent others from becoming infected.
