Re:Response to Kyoto Prefecture’s Extension of State of Emergency Measures
In light of the ongoing COVID-19 situation, in response to Kyoto Prefecture’s state of emergency measures, Kyoto Institute of Technology has been expanding the use of online classes since April 26, focusing on courses with a high number of participants.
On May 7, the government announced an extension of the state of emergency from May 11 to May 31 and the Kyoto Prefecture has requested that universities continue to take actions accordingly.
With regard to classes, and in order to further control the number of students entering the campus, Kyoto Institute of Technology will, in principle, be using HyFlex teaching (simultaneous face-to-face and online learning) and will be implementing both HyFlex and online classes (experiments and practical training are excluded). For convenience of preparation, the start date will be announced separately. All other special prevention measures, which are currently implemented, continue to be in place, as listed below. Your understanding and cooperation for their thorough implementation is greatly appreciated.
Currently, a state of emergency has been declared for Kyoto Prefecture and the risk of infection is extremely high. Please try to reduce direct contact with others as much as possible. Even outdoors, talking at close range without a mask increases the risk of infection by droplet or micro-droplet infection. Eating and drinking in public places such as subways and other public transportation, and talking and eating without a mask on the street have also been reported. Please be sure to wear a mask even when outdoors, and take the utmost care not to eat or drink outdoors or talk without masks.
In addition to the above measures, please continue to follow the “Kyoto Institute of Technology Manual on Limiting Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Transmission”.
We ask for your continued cooperation in following the “Kyoto Institute of Technology Manual on Limiting Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Transmission” and consistently implementing basic infection control measures. Avoid the “3Cs” (crowded places, close contact settings and closed spaces), maintain social distancing from others, wear a mask and wash and disinfect your hands. Also, actively practice the “new lifestyle” (limiting unnecessary contact with people, etc.) in order to protect your health and prevent others from becoming infected.
